Flight School

Channel Islands Aviation (CIA) has been locally owned and operated as a Cessna Pilot Center since 1976. State of the art training materials and new Cessna aircraft are just two of the reasons why CIA has chosen to partner with Cessna for over thirty years. Allow our decades of experience and unique partnership with Cessna to offer you a memorable flight training experience.

Channel Islands Aviation is recognized as one of the top Cessna Pilot Centers in the country. In March of 2007 we were awarded Cessna's prestigious National Diamond Award for "exceeding company operational standards and for excellence in flight training."

Learn to Fly for Business

Tired of the airlines? We understand! Learn to fly and use general aviation to make business meetings, visit properties and customers. There is no better way to do business than behind the controls of a Cessna airplane. At Channel Islands Aviation we recognize the need to use private aircraft in order to conduct business and still make it home in time for dinner. Allow us to teach you to fly, show you how to use an airplane as an effective business tool and we can even help you purchase your own airplane for business - you can even learn to fly in your own new Cessna!

As a busy professional, we understand that your schedule is hectic and will custom tailor your flight training so it fits your needs. Our professional flight instructors are available seven days a week and we will pair you with the instructor that best meets your schedule for training. Have an out of town business meeting? We can turn that into a cross country lesson to show you what things will really be like once you have your Private Pilot's Certificate!

Learn to fly for an Aviation Career

Dreaming about a career as an airline pilot? We can get you there! Channel Islands Aviation is an FAA Approved Part 141 Flight School and offers a special Professional Pilot Program for career minded individuals. Graduates of CIA's Professional Pilot Program are employed at many regional and major airlines while others have become corporate pilots.

Professional Pilot Program participants will be required to train four days per week, four hours per day and will follow the dress code of a CIA Pro Pilot polo shirt and slacks for lessons. We will start preparing you for your aviation career from the very start of our structured program. Our affiliations with Utah Valley State College and Mountain State University will also allow us to help you obtain a four-year degree!

Military personnel may utilize GI Bill benefits for flight training as CIA offers a VA Education program. If you're a veteran and would like to see how your benefits will help fund your training, please visit www.gibill.va.gov. Veteran benefits only apply to those enrolling in the Instrument & Commercial courses and unfortunately do not apply to the Private Pilot course. Please contact the VA for further details or contact Sarah Oberman, Flight School Manager at (805) 987-1301 x 126.

Learn to Fly for Fun

At Channel Islands Aviation, we have true passion for aviation and want to share that with you. If you want to learn to fly because you've always wanted to, we will help you get your wings! Having a Private Pilot's Certificate will allow you to simply fly out to breakfast on weekends and vacations will start as soon as you get to the airport rather than to your destination. The world becomes smaller with the use of a new Cessna airplane as many of the Southwest's top destinations are just hours away.

CIA will ensure you have fun as we offer Fly-ins year round to show pilots what they can do with their certificates. We take overnight trips to Napa, Sedona and even Mexico and make daytrips to Death Valley, Harris Ranch and Big Bear. We host BBQs at our facility, offer ground school classes the first Saturday of every month and have open houses to display new Cessna aircraft.

Learn More About Learning to Fly

Channel Islands Aviation invites you to our thirty minute Learn to Fly Seminar held every Saturday at 10:00am. There is no cost to attend and reservations are not required. You will enjoy a tour of our facility and airplanes with one of our professional Flight Instructors. If you cannot make our seminar, please contact Alice Vonch, Flight School Admin Assistant, at (805) 987-1301 x 148.

If you'd like to get a taste of what it's like to fly, we suggest scheduling a Deluxe Introductory Flight Lesson. This lesson is actually the first lesson in our syllabus and is two hours in duration. You will spend the first hour learning how to pre-flight the new Cessna 172SP Skyhawk and you will then spend about thirty to forty-five minutes in the air. A professional Flight Instructor will guide you through the process and you will actually get to take the controls of the Skyhawk. The cost for the lesson is $219 and reservations are suggested at least a few days in advance. To make your reservation, please call (805) 987-1301 x 0.

Are you ready to get started? If you're ready to enroll in flight training please fill out our Enrollment Form and a CIA representative will be in contact with you shortly.
